The short version: we collect what you choose to send us through our contact form, plus the technical information websites use to run, stay secure and count visits. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Internet or other electronic activity – Information regarding your interaction with our website

  • Providing videos (YouTube)

We do not ask for your phone number, mailing address or payment information on this Website, and we do not sell anything here.

Your privacy choices

A Privacy choices button sits in the bottom corner of every page. It opens a panel where you can turn analytics on or off. Your choice is saved in a cookie named cc_consent for six months, and you can change it at any time.

  • Visitors in the United States: analytics is on until you turn it off.

The panel also lists a targeted advertising choice. This Website does not run advertising, so that setting has nothing to turn on.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of data a website stores in your browser. This Website uses cookies to:

  • Remember your privacy choices (cc_consent);
  • Count visits and see how visitors move through the Website (Google Analytics, only while analytics is allowed).

Embedded YouTube videos may set their own cookies once the video player loads. Cloudflare says the Turnstile check on our contact form passes the form a one-time token rather than setting a cookie.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The Website will still work.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the Website. Google Signals is turned off, and our Analytics account is not linked to any advertising account. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics on every website with Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Advertising

We do not run advertising or remarketing on this Website and we do not use advertising pixels. If that changes, we will update this policy first.

Security and spam prevention

Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that the sender is a person, not automated spam. Most visitors never see a puzzle: Turnstile runs small checks in your browser and, at most, asks you to check a box. When you send the form, our server asks Cloudflare’s servers to confirm the result and passes along your IP address.

Cloudflare says Turnstile processes signals such as your IP address, your browser’s User-Agent, a TLS fingerprint (technical details of how your browser opens a secure connection) and the website the check runs on. It uses them only to detect and block bots and to improve Turnstile, not to identify, profile or target anyone, and Turnstile does not read what you type into the form. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy and Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

Our hosting provider records IP addresses and request details in server logs. We use them only to detect and block attacks on the Website.

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. No website is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee it.

Children’s privacy

This Website is for high school students, their families, educators and camp supporters. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before you send us a message.

Third-party content and websites

Some content on this Website loads from other companies’ servers. When it loads, that company receives your IP address and browser information and may set its own cookies. Their privacy policies apply to that information.

  • Videos from YouTube, on our Home and About pages.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile, on our Contact page.

Online registration happens on the Ohio Forestry Association’s website, which has its own privacy policy. The Website also links to other websites, including video hosts on our 2020 Virtual Camp page, directions on Google Maps, and our pages on Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram and Snapchat. The share buttons on news posts are plain links: nothing is sent to those networks unless you click one. When you follow a link you leave our Website, and that website’s privacy policy applies.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. We share it only as needed to run the Website and answer you:

  • Our website hosting provider, which stores the Website, its form entries, its backups and its server logs, and sends the Website’s email, including form notifications to our staff and the confirmation email to you.
  • Google, which provides Google Analytics, and YouTube, which plays our videos.
  • Cloudflare, which runs the Turnstile spam check on our contact form.
  • Authorities or others when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, campers, families or the public.
  • A successor organization if our program, or part of it, is transferred or reorganized.

How long we keep information

Contact form messages are emailed to our staff and kept in the Website’s database until we delete them. Google Analytics keeps event data for 2 months. Server logs and backups are kept for the periods set by our hosting and backup providers.

Your choices and requests

  • You do not have to use our contact form. You can call us instead.
  • You can turn analytics off with the Privacy choices button, block cookies in your browser, or use Google’s opt-out add-on.
  • You can ask us to see, correct or delete the information you sent through our form. Contact us using the details below. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Website or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
